Vigor Marine - Tacoma, Washington
Sitts & Hill Engineers, Inc. was retained to assist in the complete renovation of their existing shipyard facility. Specific elements included new movable fabric building, removal and replacement of the existing industrial building, structural evaluation, preparation of demolition and replacement drawings for existing Bulkheads, Timber wharf and Timber pier structures, and design of a new paving and stormwater collection and repair and upgrade to floats and marine runway system. The new movable fabric structure was mounted on a rail system incorporated into a matt foundation. The matt foundation for the fabric structure was a cost effective alternative to a pile supported structure due to in-situ low soil bearing capacities.
The scope of work included riparian boundary and topographic surveys, extensive above ground and below ground utility locations, wetlands locations, an ALTA survey, as well as locating existing outfalls in the Blair Waterway. Monitoring well locations and settlement monitoring of preloads were also included for this project. Sitts and Hill engaged APS Locating for all underground utility locations. As a part of this project, Sitts & Hill was engaged to complete full topographic and utility surveys on several nearby sites that were designated as Wetland Mitigation areas.
