Targa Sound Terminal - Tacoma, Washington

Sitts & Hill was hired by Targa Resources and Targa Sound Terminal to provide surveying services related to the design and development of a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) pipeline over a 3.5 mile corridor within the Port of Tacoma.  In addition, Sitts & Hill provided surveying services to support the expansion of Targa Sound Terminal's facilities, including new storage tanks, containment wall, support structures, mechanical systems and racks.  Our services in support of this project included:

HDD pipeline:

  • Right-of-Way determination over entire route
  • Extensive underground utility research along pipeline corridor to expose potential route conflicts
  • Topographic mapping of full right-of-way width along HDD alignment, as well as pipe string laydown areas
  • Legal description and exhibit preparation for easement and lease area documents
  • Construction staking of overall alignment, entry/exit areas and mechanical systems at booster station
  • As-built surveys of HDD route

Terminal Expansion:

  • ALTA / ACSM Land Title Surveys of several parcels acquired for expansion
  • Boundary surveys and adjoining right-of-way determination
  • Topographic mapping totaling 10 acres for terminal expansion and booster station sites
  • Extensive underground utility research and mapping
  • Legal description and exhibit preparation for easement and lease area documents
  • Construction Staking for entire terminal expansion, including 5 new storage tanks with over 1,000 stone column locations, containment wall, support structures, underground utilities, mechanical systems and site access roads
  • Settlement Monitoring of each tank over 8 weeks
