PLU Sports Complex - Tacoma, Washington

Sitts & Hill Engineers was contracted by Pacific Lutheran University to provide surveying services in support of the design and development of new multipurpose athletic fields, arboretum, a recreation and fitness center, and mixed housing to replace PLU's 9-hole golf course.  In addition to mapping the entire 75 acre golf course, our mapping included all of the track and field facilities in support of the relocation of the hammer throw field and batting cages. Sitts & Hill's long history of providing surveying services to PLU, which includes the compilation and maintenance of a campus wide base map, made for efficient set up and preparation to complete the requested tasks.

Our tasks related to this project were as follows:

  • Boundary survey of entire golf course and athletic facility comprised of over 20 contiguous parcels
  • Research and analysis of historic plats
  • Research of multiple vacated right-of-ways and associated ordinances
  • Research and plotting of easements and encumbrances
  • Topographic mapping of entire 75+ acre site
  • Underground utility research and mapping
  • Geotechnical exploration locations

"Sitts & Hill Engineers has been PLU's surveyors for over a decade.  They have surveyed all of campus and have been extremely responsive when we are requesting topographic mapping for our various projects.  In addition they are integral to our property acquisition program by ensuring accurate property lines between acquired properties and adjacent lots.  Sitts & Hill is very responsive to our needs, efficient and competitive in pricing their work." John Kaniss, Director of Construction Management, Pacific Lutheran University
