North Boeing Field - Seattle, Washington

Sitts & Hill Engineers was hired by The Boeing Company to provide surveying services in support of design and development of duct banks for 60 Hz power upgrades at North Boeing Field.  In the course of preparing for the mapping work it was determined that North Boeing Field was lacking adequate surveying control.  Upon that realization, Boeing tasked Sitts & Hill with developing a monument control network to ensure adequate control was available to future consultants in need of reliable information.

Our surveying services related to this project were as follows:

  • Initial research of existing Boeing records related to underground utilities and site conditions
  • Preparation of base maps produced from initial research for extensive field investigation of underground utilities
  • Topographic mapping of entire corridor along the proposed duct bank alignment
  • Underground utility mapping utilizing records research, conventional utility locate and ground penetrating radar investigation
  • Analysis of existing survey control on-site to produce local horizontal and vertical datum solutions
  • Performed control traverse and set 13 new monuments to provide optimal site coverage
  • Preparation of monument control map for dissemination to future survey consultants performing mapping work on-site
