Foss Landing Marina Addition and Alterations - Tacoma, Washington
Sitts & Hill Engineers Inc., developed schematic and final layouts for the demolition and reconfiguration of an existing 93-slip marina and boat repair facility to make way for new dry boat storage building and boat lift.
The reconfigured marina also required renovation of the existing building. The dry boat storage building consisted of a rack system, which provided storage boats five high as shown in the photo. The building is supported by a mat foundation.
Off-site aspects of the project included planning for the SR-509 Bridge which would occupy a significant portion of the original site upon completion. Subsequent to completion of the 21st Street Bridge, work was focused on state-of-the-art stormwater pretreatment, which included reactivation of an abandoned sewage pump-out system, uplands stormwater collection and pretreatment.
Additional site work included the creation of public access with waterfront improvements consisting of public parking, viewing platforms, and landscaping.
Permitting work included preparation of SEPA and Shoreline Management Substantial Development permit documents for the permanent and transient moorage slips and the reconfigured boat lift and associated site work.
We also provided engineering services for the alterations including the new Class A office addition located next to the existing building.
